The evaluation of wrist tendinitis begins with a history and physical exam.

Physical findings in someone with wrist tendinitis may include:

• Wrist tenderness
• Warmth over the skin of the wrist
• Wrist pain:
• Worse with movement
• Wrist swelling

Tests are not necessary to make the diagnosis of wrist tendinitis.

Tests that may be used to evaluate wrist tendinitis include:

• Complete blood count
• Rheumatoid factor
• Erythrocyte sedimentation rate
• X-rays of the wrist

Less commonly performed tests that may be used to evaluate wrist tendinitis include:

• Bone scan of the wrist
• MRI scan of the wrist
