Withdrawal from Alcohol Underlying Cause

Alcohol withdrawal occurs because the body is physically dependent on the effects of alcohol. When the alcohol is stopped, the body must adjust to the absence of the alcohol. Nerves throughout the body become excessively stimulated without the alcohol, which causes the symptoms of withdrawal.
