What is von Willebrand's disease?
A person with von Willebrand's disease has an inherited disease that prevents the blood from clotting normally. Those with von Willebrand's disease have inadequate amounts of von Willebrand factor in the bloodstream. The Von Willebrand factor is necessary for tiny blood cells, called platelets, to form a blood clot. About 1 out 10,000 people in the US have Von Willebrand's disease. Images
