Home care for venous insufficiency includes:
  • Stop smoking
  • Avoid exposure to secondary smoke
  • Avoid scratching.
  • Do not stand still for long periods.
  • Elevate your legs as much as possible.
  • Walk as much as possible.
  • Venous support hose:
    • Use support hose when standing.
  • Apply warm, wet compresses for 30 minutes, twice a day.
  • Take prescription medicines as directed.
