Physical findings in a female with a vaginal foreign body may include:

• Foreign body within vagina
• Vaginal bleeding
• Inability to urinate
• Swelling of the labia or vagina
• Laceration to the labia or vagina
• Hematuria:
• Blood in the urine
• Red or pink urine
• Blood clots in the urine

Tests are necessary to make the diagnosis of vaginal foreign body.

Tests that may be used to evaluate a vaginal foreign body include:

• Pelvic ultrasound
• CT scanning of the abdomen
• CT scan of the pelvis
• Urinalysis
• Vaginal culture
• X-rays of the pelvis
