The evaluation of urethral syndrome begins with a history and physical exam, including a pelvic exam for females.

Physical exam is usually normal in a woman with urethral syndrome.

Testing may be necessary to exclude other conditions that can cause symptoms similar to urethral syndrome.

Imaging tests that may be used to evaluate urethral syndrome include:
