• Leg swelling (bilateral)
• Swollen veins in the neck
• High blood pressure
• Congested lungs:
• During examination with a stethoscope
• Heart murmur:
• During examination with a stethoscope

Less common physical findings in someone with tricuspid insufficiency include:

• Jaundice:
• Yellow skin
• Yellow eyes
• Brown urine
• Ascites
• Abdominal swelling caused by a fluid collection in the abdomen
• Severe leg swelling (bilateral)

Tests are necessary to make the diagnosis of tricuspid insufficiency.

Tests that may be used to evaluate tricuspid insufficiency include:

• Chest x-ray: may be normal or show heart enlargement
• Normal chest x-rays
• Enlarged heart
• EKG
• Echocardiography
• Cardiac catheterization
