Physical findings in someone with trichinosis may include:

• Abdominal swelling
• Rash:
• Looks like bruises or broken blood vessels in the skin
• Muscle aches
• Fatigue
• Fever

Tests are necessary to make the diagnosis of trichinosis.

Tests that may be used to evaluate trichinosis include:

• Complete blood count
• Erythrocyte sedimentation rate
• CPK enzyme levels
• Immunoglobulin electrophoresis
• Serology for trichinella:
• Trichinella blood test
• Electrocardiogram
• EMG
• Muscle biopsy
• CT scan of the brain
• MRI of the brain
