Physical findings in someone with tremors and shakes may include:

• Rhythmic movement of the muscles
• May occur at rest
• May occur with movement

Tests are not necessary to make the diagnosis of tremors and shakes.

Tests that may be used to evaluate tremors and shakes include:

• Serum electrolytes
• Thyroid profile
• Serum calcium level
• Screening for toxins in the bloodstream, such as mercury and arsenic
• CT scan of the brain
• MRI scan of the brain
• Electroencephalogram
• Electromyogram
