Traumatic Pneumothorax Treatment
Treatment for a traumatic pneumothorax may include:
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Intravenous fluids Images
  • Chest tube:
    • A flexible tube is inserted in the space between the inside of the chest wall and the lung
    • The tube is attached to a suction pump
    • The pump removes the abnormal collection of air
  • Surgery for traumatic pneumothorax:
    • To repair a severely damaged lung
