Tinea Pedis Evaluation
The evaluation of tinea pedis begins with a history and physical exam. Images

Physical findings in someone with tinea pedis may include:
  • Rash on the foot: Images
    • Red or pink
    • Scaly surface
    • Blisters Images
    • Peeling skin Images
  • Splitting of the skin between the toes Images
  • Skin swelling around the rash
The diagnosis of tinea pedis can usually be made without testing.

Tests that may be used to evaluate tinea pedis include:
  • Examination of the skin under an ultraviolet light
  • Skin scraping:
    • For examination under the microscope
  • Skin biopsy
