Tinea Faciei Evaluation
The evaluation of tinea faciei begins with a history and physical exam. Images

Physical findings in someone with tinea faciei may include:
  • Rash:
    • Round, pink patches Images
    • Raised, rough, and scaly border
  • Some skin lesions may appear darker than the surrounding skin
The diagnosis of tinea faciei can usually be made without testing.

Tests that may be used to evaluate tinea faciei include:
  • Examination of the skin under an ultraviolet light
  • Skin scraping:
    • For examination under the microscope
  • Skin biopsy
