A person with a tick borne illness has an infection that is transmitted through the bite of a tick. However, transmission of infection from a tick bite is very rare.

A number of different bacterial infections can results from a tick bite. These include:

Lyme disease
Rocky Mountain spotted fever
Ehrlichiosis
Colorado tick fever
