In a male with a testicular torsion, the testicle has become dislodged from its normal position within the scrotum. The change in position twists the blood vessels that supply the testicle, cutting off the blood supply. The cause of testicular torsion is unknown. Testicular torsion is most common in males during adolescence. About 1 out of 160 males develop testicular torsion in the US each year. ![]() What are the symptoms of testicular torsion?
