What is finger tenosynovitis?
A person with finger tenosynovitis has inflammation of a tendon in the finger. Tenosynovitis is caused by inflammation, infection or overuse.

What are the symptoms of finger tenosynovitis?
Symptoms of finger tenosynovitis include finger pain that worsens with movement of the finger. Other symptoms include finger swelling, finger redness, finger tenderness, and fever.

How does the doctor treat finger tenosynovitis?
Treatment of finger tenosynovitis may include cold compresses, warm compresses, elevation of the hand, rest, and splinting the digit. Other measures include antibiotics, oral corticosteroids, narcotic pain medications, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications for pain. Surgery may be required for some cases of severe tenosynovitis.
