Tendinitis Home Care
Home care for tendinitis includes:
  • Apply a cold compress:
    • Wrap ice in a moist hand towel. Do not apply ice directly to the skin.
    • Apply for 20-30 minutes, every 1-2 hours, for the first few days.
  • Apply warm wet compresses after 3 days for stiffness.
  • Elevate the area if swelling is present.
  • Rest the tendon until the pain is gone.
  • Slowly increase activity as long as there is no pain.
  • Start stretching exercises and range of motion exercises once the pain has resolved.
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications for pain: Images
  • Acetaminophen for pain Images
  • Take prescribed medication as directed.
  • Wear a splint as directed by your doctor.
