  • About 6 out of 1,000 people have had a stroke in the US.
  • Males are 3 times more likely to have strokes than females.
  • As many as 4 out of every 10 people over the age of 45 who are having stroke symptoms, fail to seek medical care for their symptoms (because they do not realize what their symptoms mean).
