Strabismus Definition

  • Strabismus
A person with strabismus has one eye that does not line up correctly with the other eye. Strabismus may be present at birth, or caused by another illness.

About 1 out of 25 infants born in the US have strabismus. Children with strabismus respond well to treatment. Loss of vision is rare.
