Symptoms of a spinal cord injury include:
A spinal cord injury may cause particular patterns of weakness and numbness.

Patterns of weakness and numbness:
  • Paraparesis:
    • Partial loss of muscle strength and sensation below the chest
  • Paraplegia:
    • Complete loss of muscle strength and sensation below the chest
  • Quadriparesis:
    • Partial loss of muscle strength and sensation below the neck
  • Quadriplegia:
    • Loss of muscle strength and sensation below the neck
