What is elbow pain?
A person with elbow pain has discomfort near the elbow joint. Elbow pain may be caused by injury, inflammation or infection.
What are the symptoms of elbow pain?
Symptoms that occur with elbow pain include elbow redness, elbow stiffness, elbow swelling, tenderness, and warmth. Other symptoms include deformity, difficulty moving the elbow, hand numbness (unilateral), and hand weakness (unilateral).
How does the doctor treat elbow pain?
The treatment for elbow pain depends on the underlying cause. Treatment for elbow pain may include rest, elevation, cold compresses, and a shoulder sling. Other measures include antibiotics and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications for pain.
