Notify your doctor if you have a skin wound and any of the following:
- Worsening wound pain
- Worsening swelling around the wound
- Worsening tenderness around the wound
- Wound is more than 1/2 inch in length
- Wound to the face, hands, feet, or genitals
- Pus draining from the wound

- Swollen lymph glands near the wound
- Fever over 101 degrees F (38.3 C)

- Weakness of the muscles near the wound
- Numbness of the skin around the wound
- Skin foreign body
- Joint pains
- Joint swelling
- You have a dirty wound and you have not had a tetanus booster in the past 5 years
- You have not had a tetanus booster in the past 10 years
- Worsening skin redness and pain:
