What are shin splints?
A person with shin splints has pain in the front of the lower leg, caused by overuse of the leg. The leg pain is caused by injury to the muscles or bone located in the front of the lower leg. The three types of shin splints include anterior tibial strain, medial tibial stress syndrome, and tibial stress fracture. Shin splints are common in runners who run on hard surfaces. Images
