Scalp Lice Evaluation

The evaluation of head lice begins with a history and physical exam.

Physical findings in someone with head lice include:

  • Lice on the hair shafts
  • Eggs sticking to the hair shafts
  • Skin rash

Tests are not necessary to make the diagnosis of head lice.
