Types of personality disorders: - Antisocial personality disorder:
- Behavior that lacks moral and ethical values and brings the individual into conflict with society
- Avoidant personality disorder:
- Fear of negative evaluation, social discomfort, and timid behavior in early adulthood
- Borderline personality disorder:
- Impulsive and unpredictable actions, mood instability, and difficulty with interpersonal relationships
- Compulsive personality disorder:
- Avoidance of feelings and emotion via the strict adherence to rules, order, and protocol
- Dependent personality disorder:
- Inability to function in the absence of a forceful or dominant person that provides guidance and direction
- Histrionic personality disorder:
- Behavior pattern that includes excessive emotion, attention seeking, inappropriate seductiveness, and a need for approval
- Narcissistic personality disorder:
- Abnormal love of self, self-centeredness, self-absorbed, and the inability to see the effects of one's behavior on others
- Paranoid personality disorder:
- Unwarranted tendency to interpret actions of people as threatening, or demeaning
- Schizoid personality disorder:
- Cold, detached, socially isolated
