Pericarditis Evaluation
The evaluation of pericarditis begins with a history and physical exam. Images

Physical findings in someone with pericarditis may include:
  • Pericardial friction rub:
    • An abnormal sound caused by the heart rubbing against the pericardium
    • Heard during examination with a stethoscope
  • Rapid pulse: VideosImages
    • Greater than 120 beats per minute
  • Rapid breathing rate Images
  • Leg swelling (bilateral) Images
Tests are necessary to make the diagnosis of pericarditis.
