Pain in the Testicles Evaluation

The evaluation of testicular pain begins with a history and physical exam.

Physical findings in a male with testicular pain may include:

  • Abnormal position of the painful testicle:
    • Painful testicle may lie higher in the scrotum than the other testicle
    • Painful testicle may lie more horizontally in the scrotum than the other testicle
  • Testicular lump
  • Testicular swelling
  • Testicular tenderness
  • Scrotal bruise
  • Scrotum swelling

Usually, tests are necessary to evaluate testicular pain.
