A person with ovarian cancer has abnormal cells in the ovary that multiply out of control. These cells can form tumors and spread to other parts of the body. Images

The exact cause for ovarian cancer is unknown. Some genes increase risk for developing ovarian cancer. About 1 out of 60 women in the US develop ovarian cancer.
