A person with ovarian cancer has abnormal cells in the ovary that multiply out of control. These cells can form tumors and spread to other parts of the body. The exact cause for ovarian cancer is unknown. Some genes increase risk for developing ovarian cancer. About 1 out of 60 women in the US develop ovarian cancer.

Symptoms of ovarian cancer include abdominal swelling, abdominal bloating, indigestion, lower abdominal pain, abnormal vaginal bleeding, vaginal discharge, constipation, fever, increased urinary frequency, lower back pain, pelvic pain, weight loss, and fatigue.

Treatment for ovarian cancer includes some combination of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.
