People with organic brain syndrome (OBS) have a disease that causes a decrease in mental function caused by an underlying disease. Common causes for organic brain syndrome include alcoholism, senile dementia, Alzheimer's disease, concussion, encephalitis, epilepsy, drugs intoxication, meningitis, stroke, drug withdrawal and alcohol withdrawal.
