Neurofibromatosis Symptoms

Symptoms of neurofibromatosis vary with the severity of the illness and the location of the tumors.

Common symptoms of neurofibromatosis include:

  • Cafe-au-lait skin lesions:
    • Light coffee colored spots on the skin
    • Skin lesions are usually larger than 1.5 cm
  • Freckling of the skin in the armpits
  • Soft tissue tumors that hang from the skin
  • Rubbery skin lumps:
    • Soft nodules under the skin
