Tests that may be used to evaluate neonatal jaundice include:

• Coagulation profile
• Complete blood count
• Direct bilirubin
• Indirect bilirubin
• Total bilirubin
• Liver profile
• Reticulocyte count
• Coomb's testing:
• These tests can show if the mother's blood has antibodies to Rh factor
• If the mother has antibodies to Rh factor and the baby is Rh positive, the mother's white blood cells may attack the baby's red blood cells.

Imaging tests that may be used to evaluate neonatal jaundice include:

• Ultrasound of the abdomen
• Looks for abnormalities of the liver and biliary tract
