Neck Sprain or Strain Underlying Cause
The most common cause of neck sprain or strain are minor neck injuries, which include bending or twisting the neck.

Causes of serious neck sprains and strains include:
  • Diving accident
  • Falls
  • Motor vehicle accidents:
  • Sports injuries
  • Work-related injuries
Chronic strains and sprains may occur when repeated minor injuries damage the muscles and ligaments of the neck. This results in a cycle of chronic neck pain, inflammation, and stiffness.
