Nausea and Vomiting Home Care: Warning Signs

Notify your doctor if you have nausea and vomiting and any of the following:

Fainting
Neck pain
Neck stiffness
Fever over 102 degrees F (38.8 C)
Fever over 100.4 degrees F (38 C) in infants
Pain during urination
Repeated vomiting for more than 8 hours
Rashes that look like broken blood vessels in the skin or bruises
Vomiting blood
Vomiting stool
Vomiting material that looks like coffee grounds
Worsening abdominal pain
Abdominal pain in one area of the abdomen
Worsening abdominal swelling
Worsening symptoms of dehydration:

Absent tears
Dry mouth
Dry skin
Sunken eyes
Sunken fontanelle in infants
Rapid pulse
Urinating less than 3 times per day
Sunken eyes

Blood in the stool:

Confusion
Lethargy:

Excessive sleepiness
