What is an oral cyst?
A person with an oral cyst has a collection of fluid under the skin inside the mouth. Oral cysts may form in the bone, tongue. salivary glands, gums, lips, roof of the mouth, floor of the mouth, or throat.
What are the symptoms of an oral cyst?
Most oral cysts cause a painless lump in the mouth that is less than one inch wide. Symptoms of an infected oral cyst, or oral abscess, include redness, worsening swelling, pain and tenderness.
How does the doctor treat an oral cyst?
Treatment for an oral cyst may include surgery to remove the cyst.
