What is breast engorgement?
A woman with postpartum breast engorgement has a swollen breast, caused by the buildup of breast milk during breast-feeding. The swelling may be caused by the over-production of milk, or caused by a decrease in the amount of milk consumed by the infant during breast-feeding.

What are the symptoms of breast engorgement?
Symptoms of breast engorgement include breast swelling, breast pain, and breast tenderness.

How does the doctor treat breast engorgement?
Treatment for breast engorgement is often not necessary. Using a breast pump can help reduce breast engorgement due to over-production of milk.
