What is mesothelioma?
A person with mesothelioma has abnormal cells in the lining of the lung that multiply out of control. These cells can form tumors and spread to other parts of the body. Mesothelioma is a rare, but aggressive, form of cancer. It is strongly associated with exposure to asbestos. In fact, about 7% of people with occupational exposure to asbestos develop mesothelioma. What are the symptoms of mesothelioma?
Symptoms of mesothelioma include chest pain that usually worsens during a deep breath. Additional symptoms of mesothelioma include a cough, fatigue, weakness, excessive sweating, shortness of breath, and unintentional weight loss.
