Home care for medial tibial
stress syndrome includes:
- Apply cold compresses:
- Wrap ice in a moist hand towel. Do not apply ice directly to the skin.
- Apply for 20-30 minutes, 4 times a day, for the first few days.
- Elevate the leg.
- Rest the injury.
- Use a cane.
- Use crutches.
- Acetaminophen for pain
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications for pain:
- Take prescribed medications as directed.
- Perform stretching exercises for medial tibial stress syndrome.
- Avoid activities that caused the pain for 4 weeks.
- Return to normal activity gradually.
