Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome Home Care
Home care for medial tibial stress syndrome includes:
  • Apply cold compresses: Images
    • Wrap ice in a moist hand towel. Do not apply ice directly to the skin.
    • Apply for 20-30 minutes, 4 times a day, for the first few days.
  • Elevate the leg.
  • Rest the injury.
    • Use a cane.
    • Use crutches.
  • Acetaminophen for pain Images
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications for pain: Images
  • Take prescribed medications as directed.
  • Perform stretching exercises for medial tibial stress syndrome.
  • Avoid activities that caused the pain for 4 weeks.
  • Return to normal activity gradually.
