Initial symptoms of Marburg hemorrhagic fever include flu-like symptoms within 7-10 days of exposure. The initial symptoms are mild, and are followed by a rash. By the fifth day, the symptoms become severe very quickly.

• Abdominal pain
• Back pain
• Body aches
• Diarrhea
• Fever
• Chills
• Sore throat
• Joint pains
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Rash around the chest and trunk
• Anorexia

After 3-5 days, signs and symptoms of bleeding may occur, including:

• Rash that looks like bruises or broken blood vessels under the skin
• Vomiting blood
• Blood in the stool:
• Black stool
• Rectal bleeding
• Red stools
• Easy bleeding
• Bleeding gums
• Nosebleeds
• Excessive bruising
• Hematuria:
• Blood in the urine
• Red or pink urine
• Liver enlargement

Symptoms of worsening Marburg hemorrhagic fever include:

• Confusion
• Lethargy:
• Excessive sleepiness
• Low blood pressure
• Shock
• Coma
