Lips Dry Treatment

The two main goals for treatment of chapped lips include restoring moisture to the lips and sealing the lips against losing moisture. The moisture can be restored by drinking water. Licking the lips removes the natural oils and allows moisture to evaporate more rapidly. Lip balms that contain beeswax, petroleum, or dimethicone help to seal the lips. Products that contain sunscreen will protect the lips from sunburn.

Treatment for chapped lips includes:

  • Drink plenty of fluids.
  • Avoid licking the lips
  • Lip balms that contain:
    • Beeswax
    • Petroleum
    • Dimethicone
