A person with lateral femoral cutaneous nerve syndrome has inflammation of a sensory nerve that is located in the upper, outer aspect of the thigh. Prolonged pressure on the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve can cause burning and numbness to the skin over thigh. Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve syndrome may be triggered by pregnancy and obesity.
