The pituitary gland makes hormones that regulate growth, metabolism, sexual development, and fertility. The most common pituitary hormone deficiency is growth hormone deficiency. Those with hypopituitarism have an increased risk for heart disease.

Symptoms of hypopituitarism may include abdominal pain, poor appetite, excessive thirst, excessive urination, fatigue, headache, low blood pressure, vision changes, weakness or fatigue, and weight loss. Children with hypopituitarism may have delayed sexual development.
