Hyperparathyroidism Underlying Cause
There are two main forms of hyperparathyroidism:
Primary hyperparathyroidism:
Caused by an over-production of
parathyroid hormone
by the parathyroid glands
Usually caused by a non-cancerous parathyroid gland tumor, called a parathyroid adenoma, which produces too much
parathyroid hormone
