What is a hydatidiform mole?
A female with a hydatidiform mole has a tumor that forms within the uterus at the beginning of a pregnancy. A hydatidiform mole is a result of a genetic error that occurs at the time of fertilization. The mother's egg contained no genetic material: all of the genetic material came from the father. The abnormal pregnancy forms a tumor that may contain some developing fetal tissue, or may not contain any fetal tissue.

What are the symptoms of a hydatidiform mole?
The most common symptoms of hydatidiform mole include vaginal bleeding in pregnancy, and a uterus that grows more than expected for the age of the pregnancy. Additional symptoms of hydatidiform mole may include heat intolerance, high blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and anxiety.

Treatment options for a hydatidiform mole may include elective abortion, dilation and curettage, and hysterectomy.
