What is a hydatidiform mole?
A female with a hydatidiform mole has a tumor that forms within the uterus at the beginning of a pregnancy. A hydatidiform mole is a result of a genetic error that occurs at the time of fertilization. The mother's egg contained no genetic material: all of the genetic material came from the father. The abnormal pregnancy forms a tumor that may contain some developing fetal tissue, or may not contain any fetal tissue. Images
