A person with a hip synovitis has inflammation of the cartilage lining the hip joint. The inflammation causes hip pin that is worse with movement. Images

The synovitis may be caused by injury, medication, or viral infection. Hip synovitis is the most common cause of hip pain in children between the ages of 3 and 10. Most cases completely resolve in 2 weeks.
