Hip Fracture Underlying Cause
In the elderly, most hip fractures are caused by minor falls onto the hip. Elderly people with osteoporosis have weak bones that increase the risk of fracture from a minor fall. In young people, a more serious injury, such as an automobile accident, is required to break the hip.
