Physical findings in someone with herpes gingivostomatitis include:

• Mouth or tongue lesions:
• Blisters in the mouth
• Mouth ulcer
• Lip swelling
• Blisters on the lips
• Swollen glands in the neck

Testing is not usually necessary to make the diagnosis of herpes gingivostomatitis.

Tests that may be used to evaluate herpes gingivostomatitis include:

• Viral culture of fluid collected from the sores
