Hemoptysis Treatment

Treatment of hemoptysis may include:

  • Antibiotics for pneumonia or bronchitis
  • Bronchoscopy
    • Procedure to examine the inside of the lung and stop bleeding
  • Bronchial artery embolization:
    • Injecting medicine that forms a clot in a lung artery
  • Laser therapy for hemoptysis:
    • Using a laser to remove bleeding tissue
  • Surgery for hemoptysis:
    • Removal of bleeding tissue
  • Blood transfusion for anemia
