Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome Treatment

Treatment for hemolytic uremic syndrome is largely supportive, as no treatment of proven value has been identified. Some advocate the use of antibiotics, plasma exchange, and chemotherapy to suppress the immune system, but there is no evidence that these treatments provide and benefit. Kidney dialysis may be necessary in some patients with end stage renal disease. Kidney transplant may be an option.
