Heel Bursitis Anatomy
To better understand heel bursitis, it helps to understand the anatomy of the foot.
The heel is also known as the calcaneus bone.
The Achilles tendon is the large tendon that connects the calf muscle or gastrocnemius to the heel bone.
A person with heel bursitis has inflammation of the soft tissues surround the heel and Achilles' tendon.
