- There is a head injury every 15 seconds in the United States.
- Each year, about 500,000 people visit an emergency room for a head injury
- Head injury is the leading cause of death due to trauma.
- The death rate from severe head injury is approximately 35 percent.
- Up to 50 percent of people with severe head trauma will have permanent disability.
