Hand Fracture Home Care: Warning Signs
Notify your doctor if you have a hand fracture and any of the following:
  • Hand swelling Images
  • Deformed hand Images
  • Inability to fully move the hand or finger
  • Tenderness over the hand bones Images
  • Worsening hand pain
  • Worsening hand swelling Images
  • Worsening redness and swelling around a wound Images
  • Persistent hand pain that is not improving after 3 days of home care
If you are placed in a cast or splint, notify your doctor for:
  • Blue skin color Images
  • Worsening pain under the cast
  • Loss of feeling in the fingers
  • Loss of skin color in the fingers
  • Loss of finger circulation Images
  • Worsening finger pain
